How to Edit an Amazon Review (2026 Guide)

Yes — you can edit an Amazon review after posting it, and only you can do it. Sellers cannot edit your reviews, and no third-party service can do it for you either. The process takes about a minute: sign in, open Your Profile, find the review, and hit edit. You can change the text, the star rating, or both — and you can also delete a review entirely. There are a few catches worth knowing before you click that edit button, and a few scams to steer clear of.

How to edit a review on desktop

The desktop flow is the most reliable, and it looks like this:

    1. Sign in to your Amazon account.
    2. Hover over Account & Lists in the top navigation and click Profile (sometimes labeled Your Profile).
    3. Scroll to the Community section, where your published reviews live.
    4. Find the review you want to change and click Edit.
    5. Make your changes — text, star rating, or both — and submit.

That is the whole process. There is no approval queue on your side and no fee; editing is a standard account feature. If you cannot find the review, use the search or filter options in your profile — long review histories can bury older entries.

How to edit a review on mobile

The same flow works on the Amazon mobile app and the mobile site, just with smaller menus. Open the menu, go to Your Account, then Your Profile, and find your reviews in the Community section. Tap the review, choose Edit, make your changes, and submit. If the app ever behaves strangely — an edit button that does nothing, a profile page that will not load — try the desktop site in your phone’s browser; it tends to be more consistent for account-level tasks like this.

    What happens after you edit

Here is the part that surprises people. When you edit a review, it re-enters Amazon’s moderation process. That means your review may temporarily disappear from the product page while it is being re-checked. It usually comes back, but if you check immediately after editing and find it gone, that is almost certainly what is happening — not a bug, and not a sign that you did something wrong.

A few related facts that answer the questions I hear most often:

    • Yes, you can change the star rating. Editing a review lets you change the stars as well as the text. If your opinion of a product changed — it broke after two months, or a firmware update fixed everything — updating the rating is exactly what the feature is for.
    • Editing does not create a new “Verified Purchase” status. Your review keeps whatever purchase status it had. Editing cannot grant or remove the Verified Purchase badge.
    • Amazon Vine reviews can be edited the same way. If you are a Vine reviewer, the edit flow is identical — find the review in your profile and edit it.

    Deleting a review

Sometimes editing is not enough and you want the review gone. You can delete any review you wrote from the same place — your profile’s review section. One warning that matters: deleted reviews cannot be restored. If there is any chance you will want the text back later, copy it somewhere before you delete. There is no recycle bin for reviews.

    Watch out for these

No third party can legitimately edit your reviews for you. If a “review management” service promises to edit, improve, or remove your Amazon reviews, it is a scam — or it is asking for your login credentials, which is worse. Amazon does not offer a service that edits reviews on your behalf, and handing your account to a stranger violates Amazon’s terms and puts your account at risk. The only person who can edit your review is you, through your own account.

Heavy rewrites can get a review removed. Editing is meant for updating your genuine opinion. If you heavily rewrite a review to add promotional language, affiliate links, or content that has nothing to do with the product, Amazon’s moderation may remove the review entirely. Small, honest updates are safe; turning a review into an advertisement is not.

Report bad reviews instead of engaging. If you spot reviews that violate policy — fake reviews, incentivized reviews, abusive content — report them through Amazon’s reporting tools rather than arguing in the comments or trying to get them taken down yourself. Amazon’s own moderation handles policy violations; your job is just to flag them.

Sellers cannot edit your review — and be wary of any seller who tries. Sometimes sellers contact reviewers asking them to change or remove negative reviews, occasionally offering refunds or gifts in exchange. That is review manipulation, and it is against Amazon’s policies for both parties. You are never obligated to change a review because a seller asked.

    The bottom line

Editing an Amazon review is simple: Your Profile, find the review, edit, done. The star rating can change, Vine reviews work the same way, and deletion is permanent. The main things to remember are the moderation delay after editing — do not panic if the review briefly vanishes — and the scam warning: nobody but you can edit your reviews, so anyone offering to do it for you is not someone you should trust. Keep your opinions honest, your edits genuine, and your login credentials to yourself.

Can I change my star rating?

Yes. Editing a review lets you change the star rating as well as the text. If your opinion of a product changed — it broke after two months, or an update fixed everything — updating the rating is exactly what the feature is for.

Why did my edited review disappear?

Edited reviews re-enter Amazon’s moderation process and may temporarily disappear from the product page while being re-checked. It usually comes back. If it stays gone, the edit may have tripped a policy filter — check that the new text follows Amazon’s review guidelines.

Can a seller edit my review?

No. Only the reviewer can edit a review — sellers cannot edit customer reviews, and no third party can legitimately do it for you. Be wary of sellers who contact you asking to change or remove a review; that is review manipulation and it violates Amazon’s policies.

Can I delete a review permanently?

Yes — you can delete any review you wrote from your profile, but deleted reviews cannot be restored. Copy the text somewhere first if there is any chance you will want it back.
